Senator Mlib Tmetuchl is an energetic politician with an abiding commitment to serve the people of Palau.

Senator Tmetuchl’s recent election victory to the Seventh Olbiil Era Kelulau provided much needed leadership for the Senate and the Republic of Palau. He is currently serving as the Vice President of the Senate and chairs the Committee on Health, Education and Social Welfares (HESW). He continues to be involved in other standing committees of the Senate serving as vice chairman of the Ways & Means and Financial Matters (WMFM) and member of Judiciary and Governmental Affairs and Foreign Relations (JGAFR), and Resources, Commerce, Trade and Development (RCTD).

Normally a reserved and thoughtful man, Senator Tmetuchl successfully won a seat in the Senate in the first nationwide senatorial race. In November 2000, he was elected popularly to the Senate of the Sixth Olbiil Era Kelulau where he served as the chairman of the Committee on Youth Affairs and Social Welfare, Vice Chairman on the Committee on Resources, Commerce, Trade and Development, and served as a member of the Committees on Ways & Means and Financial Matters, Judiciary and Governmental Affairs, Foreign Affairs and State Relations, Tourism Development and Cultural Affairs, and Health and Education.

In his youth, Senator Tmetuchl developed a consuming interest in the world of business and occupied himself by watching his father effectively run a multi-business corporation, among them Pacifica Development Corporation (PDC) of which he is the present president. In addition to his busy schedule, Senator Tmetuchl manages to make time for recreational sports such as baseball, tennis and sports fishing. An avid ball player, he has devoted much of his free time and generosity to the sport of baseball. He is married to Dixie and has two sons and a daughter, Glim Tmetuchl, Roman Tmetuchl and Dichem Tmetuchl. He named his second son after his father who Palau greatly admired for his visions for his country and its independent.
